ABSTRACT: The impact of immersive technologies on vocational training for trades is becoming increasingly significant as these technologies offer enhanced learning experiences. The objectives of this study were to: (1) explore how immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) influence vocational training, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of these technologies in improving skill acquisition and retention, and (3) identify challenges and opportunities associated with their implementation. A survey research design was employed to gather data from students, instructors, and trade professionals. The sample size included 200 participants selected using purposive sampling from Rivers State. The case study examined a vocational institute that has integrated VR and AR into its training programs. Findings demonstrated that immersive technologies significantly improved engagement, understanding, and retention of skills, although issues such as high costs and technical difficulties were noted. Recommendations emphasized the need for more investment in immersive technology infrastructure, training for instructors, and development of cost-effective solutions to enhance accessibility.
